It’s the time of year again where many kids are going back to school. For some that means a boarding school, away from their home. For some it means at home schooling. And, for a lot of the kids I know, it means back to public school, and the school bus transportation you take to get there. For kids who are going to school, or at least riding the bus, for the first time, this can be very scary. For their parents it’s usually even scarier. One thing all babies have to grow up and learn to do, is socialize and interact with others. This starts with other kids their same age. Their first years are spent with mostly immediate family, who cater to them. Some babies are lucky enough to have siblings, so they get some socializing with non-adults in early on. But even that is a little different then out in the world interactions. And children without siblings don't even get that. It's important to prepare your child for the world.

We've all heard that a child's TV time should be limited, but more and more screens are such an everyday part of life that it feels wrong not to expose them to it. Unless you live as part of a society that doesn't use electricity your kids are probably going to be watching TV and involved in other similar technology. For toddlers over 2 years old it is now recommended to keep screen time less than 2 hours a day. This should be pretty doable. The great thing is that nowadays your child's TV time does not have to be wasted time.
