How to Pack Your Diaper Bag

Have you ever felt like packing things for the baby has no end, and again, when you get where you're going, realized that you'd forgotten something? Although it seems like an easy and quick job, sometimes it's quite exhausting. It would be a good idea to make a checklist, so you could check if everything is packed.

Things That You Must Always Have with Yourself

There are these things that you need every day, and there's no need to pull them out of your diaper bag. Just don't forget to check your supplies regularly.

Diapers - Not only that you always have to check if there's enough of them, but try to pack a little more than you need, so that you don't stay without them.
Wet wipes - The same goes for the wipes, they are required no matter where you go and how long you stay.
Diaper cream - Another necessary thing when it comes to diaper changing.
Portable or disposable changing pad - Many diaper bags come with one. And with one of these, you can change your baby's diaper anywhere. You can also use them when you need a clean place to put down your baby.
Hand sanitizer - Sometimes you won't have where to wash your hands. And if you buy one that's alcohol-free you could use it for your baby's hands, too.
Spare clothes - At least one piece of everything - socks, pants and bodysuit or t-shirt.
Hat or cap - A hat or a cap with a brim will protect your baby's head from the sun.
Toy - You should bring at least one toy to entertain your baby if she becomes cranky. Choose a multifunctional one.
Pacifier - If your baby uses it, you certainly never leave your home without it. And don't forget a spare one, in case this one somehow gets lost.
Bottle & milk formula or baby food & spoon - If you stay long, the baby will become hungry, so you should bring her something to eat. The choice of food will depend on her age.
Bib - Not only it's necessary during the meal, but if your baby drools, as well.
Cloth diapers - You'll need at least one to throw over your shoulder when your baby is burping. Except for this, you can also use them to wipe your baby's face and hands.
Plastic bags - You'll need them for the dirty diapers or soiled clothes.

Other Things That You May Need

And there are those things that you don't need every time you leave the house, but depending on the weather conditions and the location you're going to - it would be good to take them with you.

Lightweight blanket - One such cover can be used in many different situations - to cover the baby when it's cold, to protect her from the sun, to put her down on it or to use it as a cover during breastfeeding.
Sunscreen - Be sure to protect your baby's skin during sunny days.

Wind protection cream - It's important to protect the baby's skin during windy and cold weather, too.
Nursing pads - You’ll need spare ones, if you’re breastfeeding your baby.
Spare shirt for you - You definitely don't want to go around wet or stained.
More toys - Sometimes the one just isn’t enough.
Wet bag - If your diaper bag doesn't have a special pocket for wet clothes, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a wet bag with you. Even though you could use any plastic bag for this, wet bags are better because they retain the scent.
Formula dispenser - It will save you a lot of time when you're bottle feeding your baby outside of the house.

In order to save some space in a bag - always choose travel size packaging and try to regularly review things in your diaper bag, since you definitely don't want to carry unnecessary things around. And always have a small ready-to-go bag with the most important things. It will save you if you need to go somewhere urgently.
