Baby name Lleu is a male given name which is originated as a Welsh form of Lugus which in turn is derived from the Indo-European root leuk meaning "light, brightness". The name was borne in the Welsh mythology by a hero who the son of Arianrhod. He was a warrior and magician and was raised by his uncle Gwydion. It was considered that Lleu, like Pryderi, was related to the divine son figure of Mabon ap Modron. This is also a character name in The Winter Prince written by Elizabeth Wein in which Lleu was the half-brother of Medraut and she had a complicated and intense relationship with Lleu.
