The Lafond (from Haiti) originated from France. History tells us that in 1802 Captain Riviere Lafond was part of the Leclerc's expedition to fight against the rebels of Saint-Domingue. He then turn around and rather served the cause of the Haitians, and after the Independence, the general J.J. Dessalines made him a general for his courage and later gave him about 4500 acres of land. The name of the place is still known in Haiti, to be precise, in Jacmel in the Rural Section of "Morne-a-Bruler" named "Ka Lafond." He had a son named Sincere Lafond who also became a general in the Haitian Army. His grandson Beaubrun Lafond, my great grandfather was also a Captain in the Army. The Lafond can be found in southern region of Haiti and, due to the demographic conditions of Haiti, in Port-au-Prince.
