far as i research the name origin , it was at 1410 battle at grunwald , the polish king send the rapacze to clean up last resistance of the enemy. so when horseman's broke the enemy line and the fighters would merge in groups with their shields one hand and the sword in another, so rapacze were specially train for that purpose, they had shields and long axes and they will go and finish the last resistance of the enemy , a brave fighters named rapacze i read this in official writing from this battle by a priest that was kings writer the copy of this is in a library at wawel castle krakow poland .
