Pop Star Meghan Trainor Is Expecting Baby No. 2 and Releasing a Pregnancy Book
Meghan Trainor is adding to her family and sharing her pregnancy journey with the world! Just three months after dropping her fifth studio album, Takin’ It Back, the singer-songwriter made an appearance on the TODAY show Monday (January 30) to share both big pieces of news—not only is she expecting her second child with husband Daryl Sabara, but she’s also releasing a book all about pregnancy titled Dear Future Mamas.
Trainor—who’s already mom to son Riley, born in February 2021—is four months pregnant and the baby on the way is expected to arrive this summer. She shared the news on Instagram with a photo of her sonogram, writing “BABY #2 COMING THIS SUMMER.” The 29-year-old expressed her excitement and gratitude at being able to get pregnant again in an exclusive interview with People magazine, saying “What a blessing! I’m just so grateful I can get pregnant. And I’m like, ‘I’m crushing it. This is amazing. This is my dreams.’ I’m halfway there — I want four kids!”
Trainor's experiences being pregnant with Riley and this next baby will be the focus of Dear Future Mamas—set to be released April 25—which will also include stories from her own personal trainer, registered dietitian, husband and ob-gyn on topics such as body image, labor and delivery, postpartum life, nutrition and more. "After feeling so overwhelmed and alone in my first pregnancy," said Trainor in a statement about the book release announcement , “I was inspired to write this book to make sure no other future mama ever felt like that. I want to give future mamas permission to find the right path for them — without the judgment of others."
The pop star has been sporting hoodies throughout her second pregnancy unknowingly hiding her bump from fans but says she's feeling "very different" than when she was expecting Riley—experiencing perioral dermatitis all over her face (which she claims has been fun with makeup), cravings ("everything and everything"), nausea and fatigue early on in the process—plus admitting that walking up steps leaves her out of breath now due to carrying extra weight around!
She may be feeling exhausted these days but we can still count on Meghan Trainor for some real talk around motherhood as she prepares for another baby's arrival this summer—heading off into motherhood once again (but this time just a bit more prepared) after publishing Dear Future Mama in April!
