Carey Mulligan & Marcus Mumford's Growing Family: Celebrity Parents Expecting Baby No. 3
Carey Mulligan and her singer-songwriter husband Marcus Mumford, are thrilled to be expecting their third child together. A rep for the British actress, 37, confirmed the news on Friday (January 13), following an appearance by the She Said star at the AFI Awards in Los Angeles, where she was seen debuting her baby bump on the red carpet alongside her costar Zoe Kazan.
The pair first became a couple in 2011 and tied the knot in April 2012 after a five-month courtship that included wedding guests like Sienna Miller, Jake Gyllenhaal and Colin Firth in attendance at their rural English farmhouse ceremony. Ever since then they've kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight while focusing primarily on raising their two children, Evelyn Grace (7) and Wilfred (5). As Carey revealed to Vogue back in 2015 - "Marcus is the only thing that’s mine that I can keep totally away, so I try to."
Speaking with Baby magazine just three years later in 2018, Carey opened up about what motherhood has meant for her life and career thus far: "What does motherhood change? Well, your whole life – it’s undeniable – it changes everything...With a second child, you’re a lot less paranoid...I definitely felt I was ready for new challenges this time around." And what an incredible challenge - yet beautiful blessing - this third baby will be for the couple!
Despite being busy parents of two children already under five years old (with another one arriving soon!), Carey and Marcus remain as much in love as ever and understand that marriage is something that requires effort to maintain over time - "The reason I think people don’t stay married is because they don’t realize how much work it takes," said Marcus during a recent GQ profile he did last year. And when it comes to their little ones? Both seem to agree that encouraging self-expression is key; as Carey quipped to PEOPLE when discussing raising Evelyn and Wilfred: "no makeup, no piercings, no tattoos."
Although there are sure to be plenty of sleepless nights ahead with baby number three now on its way, we're confident these celebrity parents will take things one day at a time with grace - just like they have throughout this entire incredible journey thus far!
