Strictly Couple Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez Prepare to Welcome Second Baby

On Saturday, January 21, 2023, British actress Gemma Atkinson and professional dancer, Gorka Marquez celebrated the news of welcoming their second child together. The couple first revealed the news on their respective Instagram accounts, both posting an array of stunning black and white photographs which showcased Gemma’s blossoming baby bump.

The former Hollyoaks star who met her professional dancer boyfriend on Strictly Come Dancing joked that her bump had become “impossible to hide” after she posted a candid photo of herself in a pair of tracksuit bottoms and vest top with a small smile as she gazed down at her bump. She wrote that their baby boy will be joining their family later this year, “We feel so incredibly blessed and Grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled! Although we may need to do some negotiating on names, as so far she’s adamant he’s going to be called Barbie.”

Their friends were quick to share their congratulations with Giovanni Pernice writing: “Congratulation!!! The best family and def the best parents." While Mollie King wrote: "Ahhh such lovely news you guys! So happy for you!!" Candice Brown gushed “Ahhhhhh so happy for you lovely xx," while Amy Dowden wrote: "Soooooooooooo happy for such a beautiful family." John Whaite added: "Aaaahh what lovely news. Congratulations."

This pregnancy is likely the reason Gorka pulled out of the Strictly Come Dancing live tour this year as he didn't want to spend too much time away from his family. Last year, Gemma opened up about her traumatic birth experience with daughter Mia but insisted that it hadn't put her off having another child. During an appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch last year she said: “I’m at the stage where I want a sister or bother for Mia. The first few months of Mia’s life, I kept saying to my partner, Gorka, I’m not going through that again. I’ve now come of it and I feel I could."

Last year Gemma told how they had postponed their wedding due to both of their busy schedules - after saying she'd rather try for another baby than plan lavish nuptials. On Vicky Pattison's podcast The Secret To back then she said “We've said we would prefer to try for another baby rather than have a big fancy wedding…Twice we thought about going to the registry office and just doing it but then having a big party afterwards." And now two years later here they are - expecting their second bundle joy!

Meanwhile last year Gemma also spoke out about her experience of post-traumatic stress disorder following the birth of her daughter Mia on Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4. She spoke about how she blamed herself for 'failing' after needing an emergency c-section when Mia's heart rate dropped suddenly during labour not forgetting suffering from haemorrhage after birth which caused her lose nearly a litre blood - leaving her traumatised for weeks afterwards with bad dreams about someone taking away her daughter Mia away from her. Nevertheless raising awareness helped changed her mindset completely.

Overall despite all hardships faced earlier in life together they are clearly cherishing every moment together while they prepare themselves warmly welcome new addition into their family by trying negotiate barbie name suggestion by little three-year-old daughter who is 'absolutely thrilled' !
