Telugu baby names Telugu baby naming style is quite different from rest of India. Telugu parents use the family name first as it is a genitive case, which is followed by personal name. Chinese, Finns and Hungarians parents also follow the same tradition for naming their babies.
The personal name or given name for Telugu babies are usually named after Hindu gods or goddesses. Nearly all Telugu parents use "Inti peru", meaning 'House name' as their family name. The family name by Telugu people are usually derived from the place name, for example, Pasupaleti derived from Pasupaleru and similarly Kanukuri is named after Kandukur. Unlike western baby names, where family name is well known over given name, among the Telugus, a person is well known by his/her given name, without ever hearing their family name.
