Czech baby names
Czech parents follow quite traditional and conservative culture for naming their babies. Czech baby names are compound names which are formed by using Slavic elements.
Czech names contain a given name i.e. a first name and a family name, i.e. a surname. Typically, Czechs have only one given name. But, with the changing time people have started adopting Biblical and Christian names also. After marriage, the bride typically adopts the bridegroom's surname.
During the Communist era, if parents choose a name that was not on the Czech calendar then they were required to fill a permission form. But after Velvet Revolution, parents have the right to choose any name they want for their baby. Cute nick names are also given to the babies by their parents which are formed by adding new endings to the given name.
